"I love my Bikram practice. I love the meditative poses, the focus on
breathing, and the heat. The sweat and yoga combined is very cleansing.
I also swim and run, but nothing else works my body (and soul) to the
bones like Bikram yoga."

"I have played soccer all of my life, and through my experiences, I have
learned that in order to succeed, you have to push yourself to your most
extreme limits. At times, this even meant playing through extreme pain
in order to finish a practice, win a game, or finish that last sprint.
After about fifteen years of playing soccer, I have had two knee
surgeries, tore both my right and left mcl, and pretty much every
ligament in my right knee. I am currently a student-athlete at Duke
University, and have been on the Duke Women's Soccer team for five
seasons. Because of my injuries, I have only played through one whole
season. Unfortunately, after my junior year season, I was diagnosed with
transient osteoperosis in my right talis bone in my ankle. For a few
months, I was confined to a walking boot, and couldn't run for well over
a year. My knees and my ankle have kept me off the soccer field for two
years now, and if I hadn't discovered Bikram yoga, I honestly do't know
how I would be doing right now. I fell into a slight depression; the
game that had for so long been the outlet for my passion, had been taken
from me. For over a year, I was confined to a stationary bike, and was
becoming more and more depressed with every practice and game I had to
watch from the sidelines. Fortunately for me, my trainer referred me to
this studio, a place that has become my second home. When I explained my
injuries to Naeda, she researched them to no end, to see in what
particular ways Bikram yoga could help me heal. Through my time at this
studio, I have discovered Naeda's care for my health and well being was
not unique to my situation. In fact, just the other day, I walked in to
see Naeda researching tirelessly on her computer instead of practicing,
because she wanted to learn more about one of her student's degenerative
disc problem, and how she could help her heal. This studio is an
environment of acceptance and love. Every single time I walk in, I am
accepted with a smile and sincere attention.
My yoga practice has taught me more about myself than anything else I
have ever done. The negativity I had about myself, and the sadness that
was growing inside of me from the void that soccer had left, both
started to fade away more and more with every yoga practice. Not only
did I become in touch with my body and treat it with the respect and
fairness that I never had before, but my whole mentality towards life
seemed to change. I began to live life free of pain. It is amazing the
effect that pain in your body has on your mental health. It eats away at
you, wears away at you until it's hard to smile all the time. The
shooting pains that for years had plagued my knee were residing, and
through the balancing poses, and the poses that incorporated ankle
flexibility, my ankle was healing. I learned to breathe into my pain and
to respect the limits of my body. When the doctors diagnosed my ankle
injury, they told me that I could possibly never run again. Yoga has
opened up so many things in my life. I can now run, bike, and walk
around without limping. Bikram yoga is the best thing you can do for
your mind and body. I am a happier person who has come to accept my
present situation, whether it is optimal or not. I have also become more
peaceful and accepting of other people. I am at peace with myself, and
understand that the mind and body connection, when attained, can reach
your heart."

"I discovered Bikram Yoga while muddling my way through the empty nest
syndrome. My one and only child was far away in college, I was lonely, I was feeling frumpy, I needed something.
Finding this yoga was like
finding a box of treasures. That was 4 years ago and yoga continues to
reveal new things about my mind and body today. The positive benefits
have been incredible! I have learned so much about myself while getting
incredibly strong in body and spirit. I have always been very active but
nothing has made me feel so healthy from the inside out. For me, this
yoga is like a cleansing tonic..I always feel renewed and refreshed
after a class. I consider my Bikram Yoga practice a gift to myself that
I deserve and cherish."

"After a long series of chiropractic treatments to help with a chronic
condition of neck and back sprains, I decided something else had to be
done to
get to the root of this painful and debilitating problem. Fortunately,
my daughter was a student at Bikram Yoga and encouraged me to try it. I
knew
after the first class that this yoga discipline was a perfect fit for
me. Here was a practice of self-help that penetrates into and aligns
each level of the
human being: the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. This yoga
has become a way of life for me that has restored a feeling of health and
well-being."
